JOB: Education Coordinator @ Bountiful/Davis Art Center

There is a job opening for an Education Coordinator of established community art center.

EDUCATION COORDINATOR         
Open until position is filled but urgency is needed as the position will be available in early February.

Description:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator plans, develops and implements all the  activities and events  relating to the Education Program and Initiatives of Bountiful/Davis Art Center. 
These include: 
  • Classes for children and adults
  • Educational activities such as the monthly Family Art Night
  • Maintain and improve BDAC  Traveling Exhibits to Davis County Schools
  • Children's Art Center at BDAC
  • Research and promote exhibit related educational content
  • Develop programming for children at the annual Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International Art and Folk Festival.
  •  Advocate for the Art Center and arts education
  • Prepare an annual budget for education
  • Interface and network with local officials including elected officials,  leaders in the community and colleagues  in the non-profit sector
  • Assist with grants to fund education
  • Assist with posting educational activities on the website and social media
  • Prepare visual media for educational purposes
  • Assist with the annual Davis County High School exhibit
  • Administrative duties as outlined by the Director
  • Explore ways to keep the Education Program relevant and vibrant
  • The Coordinator will also run committee meetings and help with recruiting volunteers
  • Attendance will be required at Summerfest meetings and some board meetings
  • Tours of the Art Center to the public 
Qualifications:
 
Bachelor's degree in Arts Education or a closely related field plus four years of professional experience in working within a non-profit or arts organization. Experience and education may be substituted, one for the other, on a year-for-year basis.
·         Experience in grant writing and fundraising
·         Public relations and publications experience
·         Have a good knowledge of the arts and its importance in education
·         Excellent oral communication and writing skills
·         Technical/IT expertise  is  greatly desired
·         Be willing to work some weekends and evenings
·         Proficiency in PhotoShop, InDesign (or related software),  Word
·         Have a desire to engage children, students and adults in the arts thereby fulfilling the mission of  BDAC

 A ten year personal, criminal and employment background check will be required.  $13-$15/hr.  30 hrs. per week to eventually become 40 hours per week after a probationary period of 60 days.
