SUU’S ART INSIGHTS TO FEATURE
PAINTER GLORIA ALLEN-MILLER,
ZION ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: A watercolorist who has the distinction of being an Artist-in-Residence at Zion National Park, Gloria Allen-Miller shares her creative experiences and paintings during her appearance at SUU’s Department of Art and Design’s weekly lecture series, Art Insights, on Thursday, November 11, 2010. The lecture begins at 7pm at SUU’s Great Hall in the Hunter Conference Center. Admission is free and the general public is encouraged to attend.

A native of Kansas, Gloria Miller-Allen currently resides in Idaho with her husband Tony and their four, grown children. She is a life-time painter whose love of watercolors started in grade one, and has grown into a full-time occupation. Her work has been seen in nearly 50 National and International Exhibits and holds Signature Membership National Watercolor Societies including the American Watercolor Soc. (AWS); the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA); Watercolor West (WW); and Knickerbocker Artists USA (KA): as well as several regional organizations including The Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). She regularly teaches workshops throughout the country.

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the fall and spring semesters by SUU’s Art and Design faculty. Students and community members meet weekly to experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights and attend gallery openings.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree.
