Fractured Fairy Tale Into the Woods

Salt Lake City – The Grand Theatre will present “Into the Woods” October 11-27. The story asks what would happen if several famous fairy tale characters needed one another to get their ‘happily ever after’ wish. The show is directed by Neil Vanderpool, the new Associate Dean of Communication and Performing Arts at Salt Lake Community College. Starring in the show are Grand audience favorites such as Camille Van Wagoner as Jack’s (of the beanstalk fame) mother and Ashley Gardner Carlson as Cinderella. Composed by Stephen Sondheim (who also wrote the lyrics), and book by James Lapine, the show boasts a whopping ten Tony Awards and seven Drama Desk awards over the life of the original and revival New York casts and three Laurence Olivier awards for the original London cast. “The beautifully written songs and witty book continue to make this an audience favorite,” says Richard Scott, Executive Artistic Director for the Grand, “and the show’s beautifully delivered message holds a soft spot in the hearts of many theatre lovers.”

Tickets can be obtained by calling the Grand Theatre box office at (801) 957-3322 or online at www.the-grand.org.
