Utah’s botanical garden and arboretum is active all winter with fun activities for youngsters and adults. Winter is a magical time in the Garden, there are 100 acres of winter wonderland to explore, plenty of birds to watch and a wide variety of spruce, pine and fir trees. Find and follow the tracks of quail, snowshoe hare and other animals in the snow. Get out of the house, bring your snowshoes and take a hike through the unpaved trails of the Natural Area or walk on the paved trails in the formal gardens. Enjoy half-price Garden admission December 1 through February 28.

PLANT & ART EXHIBITS

GLASS ART SHOW
November 8 – December 8
The Glass Art Guild of Utah returns to Red Butte Garden for another stunning show of kiln work and blown glass. Large and small pieces including garden art, decorative boxes, sculptural works, and jewelry pieces will display the brilliant colors of this delightful medium. Items displayed will be available for sale. Meet the Artists Reception: Sunday, November 10 from 2-5pm.

13th ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE & ART FAIR
Free Garden Admission thanks to Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP)
December 7 & 8 from 10am – 5pm
The Orangerie will be filled with local artists who have created an array of locally handmade gifts for sale. We also offer free Garden admission both days thanks to ZAP, complimentary cider and hot chocolate, and acres of winter wonderland to explore. Bring your shopping list and your winter boots and come enjoy the season with us at the Garden!
In addition, save 10% on all items in the Garden Gift Shop on December 7 & 8. Garden Members receive an additional 10% off. Find garden-inspired gifts such as books, jewelry, home and holiday décor, and more! 
114th ANNUAL NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
December 14 from 9am – Noon
The annual Christmas bird count provides the National Audubon Society with critical data about bird population trends, and at year 114, it is the longest-running citizen-science survey in the world!  Red Butte Garden is once again privileged to host this event. Space is limited, so sign up early. Adults only please, no children. Registration is required at 801-581-8454 or www.redbuttegarden.org







CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

HOLIDAY WREATH-MAKING WORKSHOPS
-Round Wreaths - December 8 from 9am – Noon
-Square Wreaths - December 9 from 6 – 9pm
Start the holiday season by creating a fresh wreath for your front door at our annual wreath-making workshop. Workshop materials include fresh greens, cones, fruits, assorted decorations, and ribbon that will be used to fill a 16” round wreath frame on December 8, or a 14” square wreath frame on December 9. Attendees are encouraged to bring unusual greens or your favorite ornaments to include. Please also bring gloves, scissors, hand pruners, and a basket. WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
December 21 from 10am – 1 pm
Winter Solstice has been celebrated all over the world since ancient times because it heralds the gradual return of the sunlight after the shortest and darkest days of the year. Bring your kids and celebrate the Solstice in the Children's Garden. Create head-wreaths, winter candles, sip hot chocolate, and make a New Year wish at the Yule-log. No registration necessary.

Admission to Red Butte Garden: Free to Garden Members, 
General admission: Adults (ages 18-64):$10, Seniors (65+):$8, Military ID:$8, 
Children (ages 3-17):$6, Children under age three: Free, U of U Faculty/Staff:$8, 
U of U students: Free w/valid student ID **

  • Winter Hours: October 1 - March 31, open daily 9am to 5pm* 
  • Spring Hours: April 1-30, 9am to 7:30pm
  • Summer Hours: May 1-August 31, 9am to 9pm
  • Fall Hours: September 1-30, 9am to 7:30pm

*Red Butte Garden will be closed Thanksgiving Day and December 24 through January 1. 
**Enjoy half-price admission December 1 through February 28.
