When graduates of the College of Fine Arts hold national and international acclaim as artists, the University community can proudly boast their achievements. The College of Fine Arts is delighted to announce that six alumni from the College will return to campus to be honored for these very successes. A college-wide assembly will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Kingsbury Hall, honoring distinguished alumni from each of the units in the College and will feature a keynote address from Elizabeth Streb.

Honorees are Charles R. Loving – Art & Art History, Jiang Qi- Ballet, Alex Beckstead - Film, Della Davidson – Modern Dance, Christoph Luty – Music and Anne Decker – Theatre. Our keynote speaker, Elizabeth Streb, is a recipient of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Award (1997) and a member of the New York City Mayor’s Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission. Once called the “Evel Knievel of dance,” Streb’s choreography intertwines the disciplines of dance, athletics, boxing, rodeo, the circus, human physical accidents, and Hollywood stunt-work. She recently released the book, “STREB: How To Become an Extreme Action Hero” in 2010. We are thrilled to have her join us.

The Assembly is free and open to the public. We welcome all for an entertaining morning as we champion the arts and hear from our celebrated alumni. Please join us in Kingsbury Hall, October 5th at 10:00 AM. For more information on this event please visit www.finearts.utah.edu, or call 801.581.6764.
