Art Access August Gallery Exhibitions (SLC)

Art Access Gallery Announces
August Gallery Exhibitions
Salt Lake City, UT - Jul 30, 2010 Art Access Gallery is pleased to present its 16th Annual Partners Exhibit and its 13th Annual Teen Workshop Exhibition. Both exhibits will open on Friday, August 20 with a reception from 6 to 9 PM, during the Salt Lake City's monthly Gallery Stroll. The shows will hang from August 20 through September 10.

16th Annual Partners Exhibition
This year's Partners exhibit features eight emerging adult artists and their professional artist mentors. Participating this year are emerging artists: Paul Alusa, Barry Wright, David Adams, Kent Ainsworth, Katie Felgar, Deborah Burt, Aaron Griego and Anselmo Arlotta. Their mentors, respectively, are: Fidalis Buehler, Sam Wilson, David Krenzer, Steven K. Sheffield, Sue Valentine, and Joey Behrens. Artist Rob Adamson is mentoring both Griego and Arlotta. Each partnership developed individual goals, with actual work taking place in the professional artists' studios.
The Partners Program was established in 1994, when Art Access realized that many talented adult artists with disabilities, as well as individuals who represent other underserved communities, were falling between the cracks of its offerings. A wide variety of programs had been developed, but none addressed the specific needs of adult artists requiring assistance in developing technique, learning the intricacies of professionalism or in making connections to the arts community.

Since then, Partners has served over 200 emerging artists. Lives have been changed since the genesis of this program. Emerging artists have been juried into shows, sold their art, conducted art workshops and become mentors themselves.

13th Annual Teen Workshop Exhibition
This Teen exhibit features the juried artwork of 50 teens with and without disabilities, who participated in this year's program.
The Art Access Teen Workshops are open to teens ranging from 13 to 19 who have a strong interest in art. Limited to 13 teens each, the 12-hour workshops are held in the Art Access workshop space and taught by artists whose work has been exhibited in the gallery. Small workshops allow for more individual attention from instructors, as well as fostering appreciation and understanding between teens from diverse backgrounds.
