Utah Arts Festival Wraps Salt Lake City in Sweaters
Rogue Knitters Wanted for Training though “Random Acts of Art”
Saturday, March 19, 1–4 p.m.

Salt Lake City, UT: The Utah Arts Festival and Art Access/VSA Utah are joining forces to cover Salt Lake City in handmade sweaters. The duo are gathering rogue knitters to cover parking meters, light poles, benches and trees in handmade knitting or crochet.
A grand knitting installation will be revealed Saturday, June 18 on Washington Square in Salt Lake City to coincide with World Wide Knit-in-Public Day. Mini “knit-ins” will take place now though June, with a final knitting rally to be staged during the Utah Arts Festival, June 23-26 downtown on Library Square.

During the planning stages, experienced knitters and crocheters, or those wanting to learn and be trained in “graffiti” knitting practices are invited to join the Random Acts of Art group. Meet on Saturday, March 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Utah Arts Festival headquarters, 230 South 500 West, Suite 120.

Join the knitters in their plan for total knitting domination, or look around town for everyday objects wrapped in cozy sweaters with a little tag attached that reads, “You’re witnessing a Random Act of Art.”
