Women of Their Time
Paintings by Cori Redstone

Access II Gallery is pleased to host Women of Their Time, an exhibit by Cori Redstone, featuring women who are confident in their point of view and of those places that shape the way that they live.
Redstone remembers her own upbringing. She says, "girls with opinions weren't considered acceptable in my family. My parents' most pressing concerns for me included my ability to play the piano, cook dinner and look happy, polished and poised for the neighbors at church."
Redstone says that she began to find her voice through art and made a conscious decision to define the world as she saw it, rather than allowing her future to be dictated by how the world defined her.
The artist's oil paintings can be described as social realism in the sense that she is painting real people while capturing their social reality. Cori Redstone tells stories of women whom she knows and admires, who live without apologizing for whom they are or what they do. Her paintings are an exploration of the lives of contemporary women who find fulfillment in being authentic.
