Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: The creative process and SUU’s visual arts programs are showcased in The SUU Art & Design Curriculum Exhibition. This special exhibit spotlights all the department’s programs and art forms as well as the process behind each medium. The student-created art will be featured in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, running September 6-22, 2012. The gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, noon to 7pm. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
What does SUU's Art and Design Department do? What do they teach? How are their student's doing? What does their work look like? What kinds of classes are there? What does one do in Branding class, Intaglio/Lithography class, or Digital Illustration class, and so on? This exhibition answers all these questions and more - - - The SUU Art & Design Curriculum Exhibition. From start to finish, from Alla Prima to Zinc Plate, you can see the development of students - from Freshman to Senior - in all the different studio degree programs: Illustration, Painting/Drawing/Printmaking, Ceramics/Sculpture, Photography, Art Education, and Graphic Design.

The Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery’s mission is to exhibit, collect and preserve historic and contemporary works of art significant to the interior American West. In addition, the Gallery hosts art exhibitions that represent the principal artistic styles and periods of world cultures.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration, and the new Center for Shakespeare Studies. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year. The College’s affiliate organizations include the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, American Folk Ballet, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and the SUU Ballroom Dance Company.
