2010 Utah Arts Festival hosts mini music fests
Bluegrass Fest, Blues Fest, Funk Fest and Jazz/World Music Fest
June 24-27 at Library Square
Salt Lake City, UT: The 2010 Utah Arts Festival gets its groove on with mini-music fests throughout the larger four-day Festival June 24-27 at Library Square.
Bluegrass Fest — Friday, June 25: Utah’s own Ridin’ the Faultline kicks off at 9, Earth Garden Café. Critically acclaimed bluegrass band Cadillac Sky hits 9:45, Festival Stage and Head for the Hills rooted in the bluegrass tradition lets go at 8:30, Park Stage.
Blues Fest — Saturday, June 26: Local favorites The Huckleberries hit at 9 on the Park Stage and Utah’s own Blues on First open at 8:15 in front of headliners Café R&B at 9:45, both on the Amphitheater Stage. Café R&B are gritty hard-hitting early blues with vocals reminiscent of Etta James and Tina Turner.
Funk Fest — Sunday, June 27: The Funk Fest features locals Funk Fu at 7:45, Park Stage and The Soulistics at 8:15 on the Park Stage. Headliners include: the Joe Jordan Experiment from Philadelphia, a soulful blend of blues and raunchy rock with hints of Nirvana and Medeski, Martin & Wood, 9, Park Stage. RonKat Freekbass Connect is a blend of freaky funk with RonKat Spearman from George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic, 9:45 Amphitheater Stage.
Jazz/World Music Fest — Sunday, June 27: Local jazz group Daniel Day Trio bring their jazz style at 9:15, Earth Garden Café. Desecration of the Johnny People open at 8 ahead of world headliner and guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque & The Flat Earth Ensemble at 9:45 on the Festival Stage.
The 2010 Utah Arts Festival runs Thursday, June 24 through Sunday, June 27 from noon to 11 p.m. at Library Square, 400 South and 200 East in downtown Salt Lake City.
Adult admission is $10 at the gate, $7 in advance. Children 12 and under are free. Seniors 65 and above are $5. Reduced adult admission is $5 and available from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
