Deer Valley® Music Festival presents earth, wind & fire, full week of popular past-season encore performances
PARK CITY, UTAH – The 2012 Deer Valley® Music Festival will bring Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Earth, Wind & Fire to Park City in its fourth week of concert offerings, as well as anticipated encore performances of sold-out shows from previous seasons: “Disney in Concert” and the “Jewish American Songbook.”
The Utah Symphony will reprise the 2010 DVMF hit, “Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies” with all-new arrangements from “Toy Story” and “Mulan,” Friday, August 3 at 7:30 p.m. This family-friendly concert will feature backdrops of film clips, animation cells, and original storyboard art as Principal Pops Conductor Jerry Steichen leads the orchestra with special guest vocalists. Prior to this performance, Summerhays Music and the Utah Symphony Youth Guild will offer an Instrument Petting Zoo, which will provide children the opportunity to play different instruments on the plaza.
Then, the Utah Symphony and guest conductor Charles Floyd will accompany Earth, Wind & Fire as part of their 2012 Guiding Lights Tour, Saturday, August 4 at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating is already sold-out for this highly anticipated performance, featuring many of Earth, Wind & Fire’s popular soulful tunes as well as new hits from their upcoming album.
Both Friday and Saturday concerts will be held at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater (2250 Deer Valley Drive South). Preceding these weekend events, the Festival’s Chamber Ensemble Series will feature return performances of the Muir String Quartet at St. Mary’s Church (1505 White Pine Canyon Road) and beloved showtunes by Jewish composers at Temple Har Shalom (3700 N. Brookside Drive).
Utah Symphony Principal Pops Conductor Jerry Steichen will be at the piano for the program at Temple Har Shalom, an encore of the 2011 DVMF cabaret hit featuring tunes from the Jewish American Songbook, Tuesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 2 at 8 p.m. The new program, “Accentuate the Positive,” will feature several guest soloists directed by Shawn Churchman.
Then, the Muir String Quartet, DVMF’s resident chamber ensemble, will return for their annual Festival engagement at St. Mary’s Church with a program of masterpieces by Mozart and Beethoven, Wednesday, August 1 at 8 p.m.
