Community Called Upon to Give Feedback for New Glendale Library Branch
May 2, 2012 – SALT LAKE CITY – Calling all residents of the Glendale neighborhood! The Salt Lake City Public Library and Architectural Nexus are launching an intensive design stage for the new Glendale Library Branch, and seek community input at three open houses scheduled in May and June.
“The Glendale Library Branch will be much more than a place where people can get information and resources,” said Patty Steed, Associate Director for The City Library. “We want to hear from the residents of this diverse and vibrant neighborhood about what they want in the building’s design so it will live up to the dreams and aspirations of the community.”
Three open houses will be held in May and June to gather community input:
Public Open House 1: The Community Image
Where: Sorenson Unity Center (1383 South 900 West)
When: Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6PM-8PM
This community open house will include opportunities to plan and comment on:
· The size, shape, and placement of the library on the site,
· The planning and layout of project spaces as they relate to the community's hopes and dreams.
· Identifying imagery that captures the heart and vision of the Glendale community.
Public Open House 2: Community Feedback
Community Seed Swap
Where: Sorenson Unity Garden (1383 South 900 West)
When: Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10AM-2 PM
This is an opportunity to give input and comment on the design, size, shape, and planning of the Library.
Public Open House 3: Glendale Library Design
Where: Sorenson Unity Center (1383 South 900 West)
When: Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6PM-8PM
Come and experience the design of your new library. Join us for an evening of comments and discussion about what the library will look like.
