SALT LAKE DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE ADDS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Nick Como joins a staff committed to building a dynamic and diverse community.

Salt Lake City (May 8, 2012) – Downtown Salt Lake City is the regional center for commerce, culture and entertainment, with the Downtown Alliance’s vision to ensure the downtown area is embraced by visitors and residents throughout the intermountain west. To ensure this message resonates throughout Utah, the Downtown Alliance is proud to welcome Nick Como as Communications Director.

Como brings over a decade of marketing and public relations experience to the Alliance’s staff, most recently having served as the director of marketing and public relations at Solitude Mountain Resort.  Como’s previous efforts included a marketing and development position with the Town of Alta, branding and graphics work for a wide range of local clients as a freelance strategist, as well as experience in the advertising field in New York City. Holding a Media Studies degree from the City University of New York, Nick will bring communication and media skills to share downtown’s story with regional audiences.

“Nick brings an amazing skill set and vision to our communication efforts,” said Jason Mathis, Downtown Alliance executive director. “There has never been a better time to be associated with downtown and we know that Nick will help us continue to share our story with people across the region. We are excited to have him on our team.”

The Downtown Alliance works closely with residents, small and large business and local and state government in the capital city, with a shared vision to promote downtown.

“The downtown core is growing in a positive and energetic direction,” Como remarked. “I am happy to be a part of all the excitement you can see and feel throughout the city”.

March saw the opening of City Creek Center, with June marking the 20th anniversary of the Downtown Farmers Market. “Downtown Rising” will continue to be a literal reality as public transportation projects near completion, cultural events from dining to arts and music grow in popularity and public initiatives strengthen the vision of downtown belonging to everyone.

Como will work closely with local and state media outlets, act as the “voice” behind social media outreach and help direct marketing efforts for downtown events, businesses and activities.
The Downtown Alliance is dedicated to building a dynamic and divers community that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment. For more information, visit downtownslc.org
