This Tuesday evening (July 16), Red Rock Rondo is honored to help festivate "The Silver Sampler," the Utah Humanities Council's 25th anniversary Human Ties Celebration.
Awards will be given to a select group of individuals and organizations whose collaboration with UHC exemplifies the power of the humanities. The program will offer a sampling of projects and personal experiences with the humanities. One of the awardees is Louise Excell, the inspiration and subject of Red Rock Rondo's song, "Hay-Colored Leaves," which KUED has kindly broadcast many times during recent years.
As one of several board alumni who will offer personal stories of how the humanities figure in their lives, Phillip Bimstein will briefly describe how Red Rock Rondo's Zion Canyon Song Cycleevolved from Springdale oral histories.
Following the free awards program, there will be a dessert reception in the lobby with music by Red Rock Rondo at a cost of $25 per person (plus
$5 in facility fees). Tickets are available in advance from ArtTix or at the event.
