EVE 2014: anniversary celebration includes fan favorites from past five years
Celebrate the New Year throughout downtown with a three-day, $15 EVE Pass
Salt Lake City (Dec. 9, 2013) – The Downtown Alliance announces EVE 2014. EVE’s fifth year continues with a three-day celebration in downtown Salt Lake City, Dec. 29, 30 and 31 with fan favorites from the past five years. More than 40,000 attendees are expected to take advantage of a $15 three-day pass to access 9 downtown venues. Three-day passes for children between 3 and 9 years old are $5. EVE goers can experience a wide range of art exhibits, film screenings, comedy shows, live music, cultural performances and family programming throughout downtown.
New for EVE 2014 is a Comic Con Fan Experience costume contest, with $1500 in cash prizes, as well as admission to the Utah Jazz v. Charlotte Bobcats game. Both of these events are on December 30. Other venues with admission included in the EVE Pass are Clark Planetarium, Off Broadway Theatre, Broadway Centre Cinemas and The Leonardo (Dead Sea Scrolls is available as an upgrade). Temple Square and UMOCA are always free, but will have extended hours and programming during EVE. Jazz ticket holders for that December 30th game are invited to attend all three nights of EVE.
In it’s fifth year, EVE organizers have committed to bringing back fan favorites from the past four EVE celebrations, most of which are designed to offer warm, indoor experiences. BounceTown, a “town” of inflatable houses children and kids at heart can play in, as well as the BallRoom, featuring a lasers, lights, upbeat music and 2014 beach balls.
The Utah Performing Arts Center stage lineup, also located indoors at the Salt Palace, shwocases the best of Utah’s performance artists, including a Native American Winter EVE Pow-Wow, Afro-Brazilian troupe Samba Fogo, and Children’s Theatre.
“EVE is more than just a party – it’s an expression of optimism, creativity and community,” said Jason Mathis, executive director for the Downtown Alliance. “EVE is unique to Utah. It was created to build on our Olympic legacy, as we celebrate the dawning of a healthier and happier new year. It is designed to break down barriers, build relationships and celebrate our shared humanity. No matter who you are, you are welcomed at EVE.”
EVE is presented by the Downtown Alliance, along with community partners including Comcast, Wells Fargo, Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints Foundation, Intermountain Live Well, Salt Lake City, Utah Tobacco Quit Line, Sam & Diane Stewart Family Foundation, George S & Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, The Utah Performing Arts Center, X96, Coca-Cola, City Creek Center, City Weekly, Zoo Arts & Parks and Now Playing Utah.
