FREE NIGHT OF THEATER OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2011

SALT LAKE CITY (August 4, 2011) – If you’ve been wondering what it would be like to attend the theatre, but you weren’t sure what to expect, October is the perfect time to find out. Whether you have never seen live theatre or you just want to try out a company you’ve never patronized, you can enter to win free tickets through Free Night of Theatre, a nationwide event organized to introduce new audiences to the theatre.

Free Night of Theatre is an initiative of the Theatre Communications Group, spearheaded locally by Now Playing Utah with support from the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. In the past six years, over 250,000 people have been awarded free tickets to productions in more than 130 cities.

This year Now Playing Utah has broadened and expanded the Free Night program to a Free “Month” program. Instead of being restricted to selecting a theatre performance on one night, now you will have a choice of performances throughout the whole month of October, providing many more patrons the opportunity to try something new and experience some of the finest theatre performances the state has to offer!

“We are excited to be part of this nationwide program to open the world of live performance to new audience members in Utah,” said Pat Holmes of Now Playing Utah. “Last year nine Utah theatres participated over three nights, and this year, with an entire month of free performances, we hope to involve even more.”

Theatres interested in participating in Free Night of Theatre are invited to contact Jason Bowcutt, Performing Arts Coordinator for the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, jbowcutt@utah.gov, 801-236-7554.

To enter to win tickets, visit FreeNight.NowPlayingUtah.com anytime between September 9 and September 23 and click on the Free Night of Theatre logo to enter up to five choices. Winners will be notified by email on September 28, and performances will be held throughout October.

For more information on the Free Night//Month program and ticket registration, go to www.NowPlayingUtah.com and click on Free Night of Theatre.
