The City Library to Host Public Education Event on Solar Power

December 1, 2011 – SALT LAKE CITY – The benefits of powering your home and business with solar technology are many. The public is invited to attend an event Thursday, December 15 at 6:00 PM to learn about the benefits and advantages to solar power, and get tips on how to find funding for solar installations.

The event is presented by Utah Solar Energy, whose vision is to help Utah residents realize the economic, social and environmental benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Other presenters include Creative Energies, LLC and Utah Clean Energy.

“People know the basic benefits to renewable energies such as solar power, but the technology itself and financing the installation can be an intimidating process,” said Howard Brown, outcome lead for The City Library. “Our goal is to help people understand how to get solar power into their homes and businesses and what kind of grants and financing are available so they can make the right decision for themselves.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to estimate the size of a solar system that would meet their needs, and are encouraged to bring records of their electricity usage from the past year.

The event will be held in Conference Room B at The City Library’s Main Library. For more information, visit www.slcpl.org.
