American Sign Language actors and others: auditions for “Love Person” at Pygmalion Theatre Company
Salt Lake City, Utah – June 14, 2013: Pygmalion Theatre Company will hold auditions for LOVE PERSON on June 25th and 26th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 West 300 South in Salt Lake City.
Directed by Teresa Sanderson, LOVE PERSON is a contemporary love story with four characters and four languages, including ASL (American sign language).
Characters include:
- · Free: 30's 40's, deaf, Maggie's lover, Vic's older sister, uses ASL exclusively, doesn't voice.
- · Maggie: 30's 40's, English Lit professor, Free's lover, fluent in ASL. Interpreting for Free is second nature. When they are alone together, they only sign.
- · Vic: 30's, two divorces, drinks too much. Free's sister, has some basic ASL skills (can be taught during the rehearsal process.)
- · Ram: The role of Ram has been pre-cast.
LOVE PERSON is the opening show of Pygmalion's 2013-2014 season, and will run November 1st thru November 16th at the Rose Wagner. Rehearsals begin September 23rd.
