 Weber State University Department of Performing Arts presents the Weber State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael A. Palumbo, in its third concert of the 2011-12 season Sunday, February 26,  at 7:30 p.m. in the Austad Auditorium of the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. Well-behaved children 8 years and older are welcome to attend. 

As is the orchestra’s custom, this concert is shared with the Bonneville Youth Orchestra conducted by Samuel Runolfson.The BYO will open the concert with a short program.  

The second part of the program will be presented by the WSSO.  Repertoire for this part of the program will be Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave Overture, Opus 26, two short symphonies, 1, and 3, from the Five Symphonies for Small Orchestra by Darius Milhaud, Stravinsky’s Suite No. 1 for Small Orchestra, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture, Opus 36.  

The concert will conclude with the two orchestra joining forces for a performance of Berceuse and Finale from Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite.”  This will be conducted by the BYO’s conductor, Samuel Runolfson.

Tickets for the concert are $6 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and those with military I.D. WSU students who pick up a complementary ticket from the Department of Performing Arts office, room 331 in the Browning Center, will be admitted free. They can be purchased in advance at Dee Events Center Tickets, 1-800-WSU-TIKS.  WSU students who pick up a complementary ticket from the Department of Performing Arts office, room 331 in the Browning Center, will be admitted free. This concert is partially funded by student fees.
