Public Relations Manager
The Public Relations (PR) Manager is the primary media contact for Utah Symphony | Utah Opera under the direction of the VP of Marketing & PR. Job duties include scheduling interviews, handling communication requests, creating press releases, and designing stories/media pitches for print, radio, and TV as well as media buying for the organization. As a part of the position, the PR Manger is responsible for maintaining the PR budget, negotiating advertising rates for radio and TV buys as well as working with local print writers to ensure coverage, both earned and paid. Candidates must have a solid working knowledge and proven track record with PR strategy, strong written and oral communication skills, and a solid knowledge of the media and how it works.
A Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, mass communications, English, or related field and minimum three years demonstrated experience in the field is necessary. Candidates must have a demonstrated knowledge of PR and media relationships, excellent customer service and human relation skills, be computer proficient, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, and must also be detail-oriented, organized, able to problem solve, make independent decisions, and multi-task with various levels of workloads.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Utah Symphony | Utah Opera is the leading arts organization in the inter-mountain west with an annual operating budget of $19M. The annual PR budget is roughly $300,000 which is split between symphony, opera, and a summer series held at Deer Valley Resort.
