Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: Performing a program of popular favorites, accomplished pianist and former staff member, Dr. MiJung Choe returns to Southern Utah University for a special recital. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, in Thorley Recital Hall at Southern Utah University. Admission is free and the General Public is encouraged to attend.
Repertoire selections for the evening include Joseph Haydn’s Piano Sonata No. 62 in E flat major, Robert Schumann’s Kinderszenen, and Franz Schubert’s Piano Sonata D. 960 in B flat major. Dr. Choe’s performance has been described by the Saginaw News as “luminous in tone and attentive to musical detail. Her technique and musicianship were of the highest order. Brilliant chamber performance that was full of color and texture.”
A resident of Midland Michigan, Dr. MiJung Choe is an active performer and dedicated teacher and has performed throughout the United State, Latin America, Asia and Europe. She was a finalist in the Grace Welsh Competition, the KBS Broadcast Young Artist Competition, and winner of the Michigan State University’s Honors Competition. Dr. Choe received both her Masters and Doctorate degrees in piano performance at Michigan State University. From 2003 – 2005, Dr. Choe served as staff accompanist and coordinator for the College of Performing and Visual Arts Department of Music.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year.
