PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP SERIES FOR ARTISTS
The Salt Lake City Arts Council in partnership with Artists of Utah is offering quarterly workshops to help artists manage their careers. Topics may include applying for exhibition or performance opportunities, developing written materials such as biographies or artist statements, managing budgets, or learning the legal terms and rights of working artists.
VISUAL ARTIST WRITING WORKSHOP
Saturday, September 21, 2013
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Schedule:
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The morning session includes a presentation and discussion on working with galleries—both commercial and nonprofit. Speakers include Tom Alder, owner of Alderwood Fine Art; Sheryl Gillilan, Executive Director of Art Access Gallery; and artist, David Baddley
12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Lunch and networking
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
For the afternoon workshop, artists will work in small groups to review, edit, and polish one written document. Artists can select their artist statement, resume, or bio. Participants must submit a copy of their working document tokandace.steadman@slcgov.com by Wednesday, September 18, 4:00 p.m.
Tuition:
$50 for the full day
• Seating is limited to 20
• Includes lunch and workshop materials
• Registration for the full day closes on Friday, September 13
$20 for the morning session only
• Seating is limited to 80
• Registration will be available up to the day of the event or until filled
