Southern Utah
University, Cedar City, Utah: Creativity, inspiration and dance are brilliantly fused together
in performance when SUU´s Department of
Theatre Arts and Dance presents the pulsating Breaking Bounds: Student Dance
Concert. This dazzling dance concert runs November 13 through 16th at SUU´s Randall L. Jones Theatre
and performances begin at 7:30pm.
Tickets are General Adult Admission: $10; SUU Faculty and staff: $8; Student
& Youth: $5; and SUU students
are admitted free with a valid I.D.
Mentored by SUU´s dance faculty, the concert spotlights the
creativity of student choreographers who challenge themselves by putting their
vision onstage as performed by their fellow students. The choreographers have
evolved from the classroom to the rehearsal studio to creating art onstage. These
student choreographers have been
mentored by SUU´s talented dance faculty: Kay
Andersen, Chair, Theatre Arts and Dance Department; Paul C. Ocampo, Associate Professor of Dance; Chien-Ying Wang, Assistant Professor of Dance; and Denise Purvis, Assistant Professor of
Dance.
Breaking Bounds features a vibrant variety of new works created by Tony Carter, Marissa Chavez, Heather Childs, Cameo Coburn, Abby Hall, Heidi
Hertig, Audrey Jeannin, Danikka Johnson, Claire Julian, Kaitlyn Katter, Jana
Kim, Dustin Liechty, Emily O´Donnell, Beth Snarr, Jessica Tracey and Alex Wall.
These new works feature an extraordinary ensemble of student
performers including Brook
Allen, Kenzie Black, Tony Carter, Marissa Chavez, Rachel Chesnut, Heather
Childs, Cameo Coburn, Soleil Cook, Taryn Crimin, Trinity Fletcher, Rachel
Green, Abby Hall, Laycee Houghton, Sceri Ivers, Audrey Jeannin, Danikka
Johnson, Mckenzie Jonely, Claire Julian, Kaitlyn Katter, Jana Kim, Amy King,
Dustin Liechty, Chelsea Moya, Kourtney Nelson, Emily O'Donnell, Jade Olson,
Jessica Romney, Danyel Rosewood, Beth
Snarr, Ashlie Stoddard, Kristen Stringham, Jessica Tracy, Abby VanDyke, Alex Wall and
Liesl Whitaker.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year.
