DECEMBER ACTIVITIES AT THE OGDEN NATURE CENTER

Wild Wednesdays -- Animal Autographs

Wednesday, December 4 at 3:45 pm

Free for ONC Members

$2 children / $3 seniors / $4 adults

All ages welcome! 

Become a nature detective as you hunt down animal clues around the Ogden Nature Center – from tracks and scat to feathers and fur. Dress for the weather.  We will be hiking the trails in search of animal signs. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

The Nest Gift Shop Holiday Open House / Arts & Crafts Sale

Saturday, December 7 from 9 am - 4 pm

Free admission / All ages welcome!

Fresh, evergreen holiday swags and centerpieces will be for sale – along with a variety of items from local artists and crafters.  Also for sale this year will be Ogden Nature Center honey — raw, natural and from the field.  Come early for the evergreen swags and honey — they will run out quickly! The Nest Gift Shop features nature related books, stationary, toys, games, art, birdfeeders, jewelry and casual clothing.  After shopping, bundle up and wander the nature preserve’s wintry trails!  There will be free hot cocoa in the yurt with a bake sale of goodies prepared by the Nature Center’s Board of Directors. Enjoy free gift wrapping and a children’s craft from 11 am – 1 pm in the Discovery Room.

What do animals do when the days get shorter, the weather gets colder, and the snow begins to fly?  A few very special animals snuggle in for the winter and snooze for days, weeks, and even months at a time.  Come learn about these amazing animals with an Ogden Nature Center naturalist. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Pinecone Skiers

Saturday, December 14, from 10-11am

$2 members/ $4 non-members (includes admission) 

Ages: 5+

Join an Ogden Nature Center naturalist to make a cute pine cone skier or snowboarder for your holiday tree.  Pre-register by calling 801-621-7595 by Thursday, December 11.

How many words can you use to describe snow?  Come find out as we celebrate winter.  Discover how animals use snow to travel, build homes, and even hide from predators. Don’t forget your hats, gloves, and snow boots! Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Pre-school Discovery Days  – Skin, Scales and Reptile Tales

9:30 am, 11 am or 1 pm on either of the dates above

$5 child/parent members

$6 per child/parent nonmembers 

General admission rates apply to all other family members.  Group/preschool registration (5 or more students) - $5 per child/parent.  Teachers and classroom aids are free.  A 50% non-refundable deposit is required.  Pre-registration required.  Call 801-621-7595 to register.

Discover the slimy and scaly critters that call the Nature Center home as we investigate reptiles and amphibians up close. Meet a Desert Tortoise, play lizard games and make a snake craft to take home. 

Scout Saturdays

Saturday, December 21

9 am – Native vs. Invasive

10 am – Conservation

11 am – Venomous Reptiles

Cost: $5 per scout

The Ogden Nature Center provides the perfect outdoor classroom for scout activities.  Have an ONC teacher/naturalist help your scout pass off badge requirements during one of our 45-minute workshops.  Reservations
