2010-11 Plan B Season (SLC: Oct 28 - May 7 2011)

PLAN-B THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES ITS 20th ANNIVERSARY SEASON

The 2010/11 season marks the 20th anniversary of the first Plan-B production in 1991. Plan-B has been developing and producing unique and socially conscious theatre for two seasons and shows no sign of slowing down. 12 of the past 15 Plan-B productions have enjoyed sold-out runs, so the only way to guarantee your seat is by subscribing!

SHE WAS MY BROTHER by Julie Jensen | Directed by Jerry Rapier

The most unlikely love story every told. Two Victorian anthropologists – a mature woman and a young man - encounter a "two-spirited” religious leader of the Zuni people in this exploration of the borderline between love, gender identity and cultural assumption. (Loosely) based on historical fact. Featuring Joe Debevc, April Fossen, Jay Perry.

MESA VERDE by Matthew Ivan Bennett | Directed by Cheryl Ann Cluff
February 24-March 6, 2011 | world premiere
A play about facing family. Two estranged sisters, haunted by memories of their mother, search for healing in a kiva at Mesa Verde State Park in Colorado. Featuring April Fossen, Teresa Sanderson, Christy Summerhays.

BORDERLANDS by Eric Samuelsen | Directed by Jerry Rapier
March 31-April 10, 2011 | world premiere
A play about coming out - just not in the usual sense. Set on a used car lot in Provo, Utah, BORDERLANDS is about all the other ways people come and the hard work of carving out a social space for those for whom none exists in Mormon culture. Featuring Kirt Bateman, Teri Cowan, Stephanie Howell, Topher Rasmussen.

Featuring
five 10-minute plays created in 24 hours inspired by incidents of censorship in Utah over the past year. Hosts, cast, playwrights and directors TBA.

FREE EVENTS CELEBRATING OUR 20th ANNIVERSARY

THE NORMAL HEART. In partnership with the Utah AIDS Foundation 25th anniversary kick-off, Plan-B offers a free reading of Larry Kramer’s seminal AIDS play. Saturday, August 14, 2010 – 8pm, Jeanne Wagner Theatre at the Rose. Featuring Kirt Bateman, Matthew Ivan Bennett, Daisy Blake, Joe Debevc, Doug Fabrizio, Mark Fossen, John Graham, Jay Perry, Christy Summerhays.

RADIO HOUR MARATHON.
In partnership with KUER, all five of Plan-B’s RADIO HOURS: RADIO POE (2006), THE HITCKHIKER & ZERO HOUR (2007), LAVENDER & EXILE (2008), FRANKENSTEIN (2009 and ALICE (2010)will be rebroadcast on KUER. Sunday, October 31, time TBA.

KUER’s 50th ANNIVERSARY BASH
. In partnership with KUER, Plan-B will present readings from the writings of David Sedaris. December 5, 2010, time TBA, Black Box at the Rose. Casts TBA.

SCRIPT-IN-HAND SERIES
. Readings of new plays-in-progress by Utah playwrights in partnership with Meat & Potato Theatre and Theatre Arts Conservatory. November 3, 2010 ; March 2, April 6, June 1, 2011 – 7pm, Studio Theatre at the Rose. Plays, casts, directors TBA.
