Auditions for Youth Orchestra
Who: Bonneville Youth Orchestra
What: Auditions
When: September 20 and 27 or by appointment
The Bonneville Youth Orchestra (BYO) will hold auditions for membership on September 20 and 27, or by appointment, as it begins its third season. Auditions will take place in room 353 in the Browning Center on the WSU campus. No pre-registration is necessary for the scheduled auditions. Students will be auditioned on a first come, first served basis. All orchestral string, wind, brass, and percussion players are urged to audition for membership. Musicians needing a separate audition appointment should contact Dr. Michael A. Palumbo at mpalumbo@weber.edu or 801-626-6991.
Rehearsals begin on October 6, 2010, and are held each Wednesday afternoon from 4:30-6:30, in the orchestra rehearsal room, room 136 in the Browning Center. The first concert will be performed on February 27, 2011. On this concert the orchestra will share the stage with the Weber State Symphony Orchestra, and the two orchestras will combine for a performance of the overture to Verdi’s La Forza del Destino.
The BYO is a full symphony orchestra that performs music from the standard orchestral repertoire. Membership in the group is open to advanced junior high and high school students who seek additional high level performing opportunities. Concurrent membership in a student’s high school program, if there is one, is a requirement for membership in the BYO.
Carrie Maxson and Elissa Krebs conduct the orchestra. Members of the WSU music faculty provide master classes for the members of the orchestra.
For additional information please contact Dr. Palumbo at the email or phone number listed above.
