OnStage in Utah Applications Due June 28 Funding available for performing arts presenters

OnStage in Utah Applications Due June 28

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Arts & Museums is now accepting online applications for OnStage in Utah. This competitive funding opportunity is available to Utah presenters to support public performances and educational outreach of in-state or out-of-state performing artists. The deadline for the online applications is 5 p.m. June 28, 2012.

Performing arts presenters bring touring artists to their communities for live performance, generally during a season or as part of a festival. In addition, they frequently arrange for community and educational outreach activities during an artist’s visit, such as student performances, lecture demonstrations, master classes and workshops. One such activity is required to receive OnStage in Utah funding.

“Presenters play an important role in linking performing artists with audiences,” said Director of Utah Arts & Museums Margaret Hunt. “We’re pleased to offer this funding to help these organizations curate live performance experiences for their communities.”

Awards from $200 to $2,000 for up to half of an artist fee are available. Utah presenters can apply for multiple performances, with a maximum award of $2,000 per presenter per year. The presenter and the proposed performance must be located in Utah.

Complete guidelines are available at artsandmuseums.utah.gov. Review and approval of this grant is determined by a peer review panel and administered by the staff of Utah Arts & Museums.

For questions or assistance with the application process, please contact Jason Bowcutt at jbowcutt@utah.gov or call 801.236.7554.
