WHO:              EVERYONE is invited to this FREE concerts series.

WHY:  This year’s WorldStage! Concert Series presents a vibrant and exciting cross section of entertainment deeply rooted in Utah’s cultural communities, with performances by:

West Valley Symphony – July 2
This year the West Valley Symphony kicks off the 2012 concert season.  Formed in 1991 by founder Ralph Baker, the symphony is an all volunteer orchestra of around 80 musicians ranging in age from 17-90.  Musicians come from all over the Wasatch Front.  Bringing quality music to West Valley City and surrounding areas, the symphony just celebrated its 20th season.
Junction City Big Band – July 9
Come experience the sounds of Glen Miller, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and other great swing era bands of the 30s, 40s and 50s.  Junction City Big Band is a full 16-piece orchestra, and your ticket to an evening of the classic arrangements and instrumentation that defined a generation.  Bring your dancing shoes for this indoor concert.

The Soulistics – July 16
Bringing you some furious funk and the sweetest of soul classics, the Soulistics are one of the Valley’s finest entertainment groups, boasting some of the best musicians in the Intermountain West.  This flashy, in-your-face show is no mere cover band. The Soulistics take the best funk, R&B and soul tunes ever and tear into them with fierce style, and a sound hailing back to those shadows of Motown. They are proud to pay respect to this devilishly good music by giving you a full-scale show to remember. If you want the funk, they’ve got the goods.

Rumba Libre – July 30
Formed in 2008 by Carlos “Coco” Garcia and Carlitos Arroyo, Rumba Libre is comprised of friends who have played their hearts out for over 15 years in Salt Lake City.  This all-star super group plays with an exciting and unique style that blends salsa, jazz, soul and Latin sounds that will get you out of your seat and dancing in the aisles.

Red Desert Ramblers – Aug 6
The Red Desert Ramblers play bluegrass, classic country and swing music.  Combining 150 years of experience, they blend harmonies with smoking instrumental breaks.  When it comes to locally produced bluegrass bands, it’s hard to do better.

World Travelers – Aug 13
Since 2009 the WorldStage! concert series has presented folk musicians and dancers from around the world.  The Utah Cultural Celebration Center is pleased to continue its partnership with Bountiful Davis Art Center in 2012 by presenting folk music and dance traditions from Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Siberia and France.  Explore your world!

Islands in the Desert – Aug 20
The Polynesian people live on islands in the Pacific Ocean that extend from Easter Island off the coast of South America to Hawaii in the north and all the way south and west to New Zealand.  Enjoy a tour of the Pacific Islands with artists Island Traditions, Tausala and Ko Ngati Hiona, performing traditional music and dances of Samoa, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii.  Put on your sandals and printed shirt for a warm Aloha Night.
