In This Edition • Twilight Concert Series Announced • Discovery Gateway • Farmers Market Kickoff Fundraiser • New exhibitions at UMOCA Don't Miss I am Downtown Video Contest $5,000 Prize Deadline June 17 The Downtown Alliance will be accepting user-submitted videos centered on the phrase “I Am Downtown” and a filmmaker’s interpretation of its definition.  A panel of industry leaders will award a grand prize of $5,000 to the winning submission. The contest will be centered on Facebook, where users can find directions to enter films of up to 100 seconds in length. The only additional guidelines are to be creative and unique in telling an unexpected story centered in the downtown area. Don't worry. You still have a chance to check out some of the designs! From May 10-31, the finalists for the urban ideas competition will be on display at The Leonardo in downtown SLC. This competition is focused on connecting and reshaping the blocks 69 and 70 in the heart of our downtown. Considered by many to be the cultural nucleus of downtown, 69|70 are critical to the cultural and economic development plans of the valley. The blocks contain the sites of the vibrant Capitol Theatre, future home of Ballet West, the proposed Utah Performing Arts Center (UPAC) and the Utah Theater - anticipated location of the Utah Film and Media Arts Center. These blocks are also in close proximity to other area anchors like Abravanel Hall, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and the Salt Palace Convention Center. Visitsixtynineseventy.com for more info.
