Friday May 10th beginning at 7 PM is UMOCA’s largest public opening to date in which hundreds will be expected to attend. There will also be two surprise stunts occurring only on opening night. Receive a first-hand anthropological look at the history past and present of contemporary art, folklore and culture in Utah. Within the country’s cultural puzzle, Utah has been used as a site, subject, support, and material that has produced its own language of contemporary art.
An artist lecture with will begin at 7 p.m. with an art talk highlighting, “The Readymade Persona,” a selection of Screen Tests from Andy Warhol of Marcel Duchamp, Jack Smith and Allen Midgette. Then, at 8 p.m. and running until 10 p.m. enjoy an array of food and drinks for all. During this time guests are welcome to explore the exhibitions. We invite you for an evening of learning and engagement about art in our community’s history.
