Grant Opportunities Available in Arts Education
Online Applications Available

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Division of Arts & Museums is accepting applications for Arts Education grants. These grants support artistic excellence, arts education and integration, and professional development. Schools, school districts, and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. The due date for online applications is 5 p.m. March 1, 2011.

“Arts education is critical to building our communities,” said Margaret Hunt, Utah Division of Arts & Museums Director. “We are proud to be able to offer this financial assistance to help schools and organizations work with professional artists, gain innovative tools that can be used to reach learners, and ensure quality arts education in our schools and our communities.”

The Utah Division of Arts & Museums offers three Arts Education grant categories:
1. Teacher-Initiated Projects - providing financial assistance for schools to support teachers in gaining skills and knowledge in an artistic discipline of their choice
2. Arts Education Grants for Schools and School Districts
3. Arts Education Grants for Nonprofit Organizations

The Arts Education Grants for Schools and School Districts and the Arts Education Grants for Nonprofit Organizations offer either an
a. Artist-in-Residence Program - providing schools and organizations with funding assistance in order to bring an artist into a school for a total of 40 hours throughout the school year; or
b. Arts Education Projects - providing funds for a comprehensive arts education project utilizing the services of artists or artistic companies

Matching funds are required for the Artist-in-Residence Program and Arts Education Projects. Partnerships are strongly encouraged. Applicants are encouraged to go to www.artsandmuseums.utah.gov and click on “funding” to download specific grant guidelines and requirements. Arts Education grants are funded, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts.
