BDAC Opens 2011 Exhibitions with a Group Show plus 5 Artists
January 14 – February 11

Bountiful, Utah, December 17, 2010 –Bountiful/Davis Art Center is happy to announce the first exhibit of 2011 beginning January 14, 2011. These artists were selected from applications reviewed by the Selection Committee of BDAC. Other exhibits in 2011 include the annual Statewide Competition, February 25 – April 1, annual High School and Jr. High School Exhibit, April 13 – May 6, Art in Black and White – Merrily Kulmer, Rebecca Rauch, Shey Rauch with paintings of Linnie Brown and Marinus Wolf and a Gallery of Life Drawing Sketches by multiple artists, May 13 – June 20. Exhibits will continue in 2011 with the annual Handcart Days Art and Craft Exhibit, June 29 – July 23, the Summerfest International Art Exhibit featuring ethnic artists in Utah plus a Quilt Exhibition, July 29 – September 2, Illustrators Utah! plus Aaron Bushnell and Lester B. Lee, September 16 – November 4 and ending with the annual Holiday Show Invitational November 18 – December 23. For a copy of the BDAC Programs & Exhibition Schedule 2011 click here.

An Opening Reception on January 14 from 7-9 will mark the first exhibit of the year. The reception is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Mingle with the artists, sample hors d’oeuvres, and view the art of the following participating artists:

Since 1943 the Palette Club of Ogden has continued to advance community interest in art and to encourage local artists. There are over 90 members of the club from Davis, Weber, Morgan and Box Elder Counties. The club members enjoy meeting in various northern Utah places for seasonal plein-air painting. Some exhibits are organized by membership categories: Master, Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner. The Club meets twice each month in South Ogden for presentations and critique sessions.

Natalie Raevsky comes from Minnesota. She recently received a degree in drawing and painting from Brigham Young University. She finds inspiration for her art in her home life as a wife and mother.

Anthony Lott currently teaches at Utah State University – College of Eastern Utah. He has also taught at the Kimball Art Center, University of Montana (where he earned a MFA) and Wasatch Academy. His work is expressive and interpretive. He works mainly in oils and acrylics.

Alessandra Sulpy holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Southern Utah University. Her subject matter is intriguing and her paintings provide the viewer with unexpected messages; a push and pull between the mundane and mysterious.

Joshua Toone
As father and son metal sculptors, both enjoy working with a combination of steel and stainless steel. Though both use the same materials and processes, their styles are noticeably different. Dan enjoys taking what is normally rigid and straight steel and forming it into smooth flowing lines and shapes. Joshua likes working with geometric lines and shapes.

Bountiful/Davis Art Center gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 2-5 p.m.
