"The Meeting" @ UCCC (WVC: Jan 12 & 15)

Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Debate Social Problems in The Meeting
 
WHAT:            EttaGrace Black Theatre Company performs The Meeting at two locations in the Salt Lake Valley.
 
WHERE:         Utah Cultural Celebration Center
                        January 12 and 15 (free to the public)

WHO:              Everyone is invited to enjoy the theatrical stage performances at either location.
 
WHY:              The Meeting, written by Jeff Stetson, depicts the supposed clandestine meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, just after the burning of Malcolm X’s home and week before his assassination.  In The Meeting, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems.
 
                        Cast:    Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – Terence Johnson
                                    Malcolm X – Longzo Liggins
                                    Rashad (Malcolm X’s bodyguard) – Harold E. DeHorney
                       
Directed by Melissa Adams and Produced by EttaGrace Black Theatre Company in conjunction with SLCC Grand Theatre’s Institute.  EttaGrace Black Theatre Company was founded by Melissa Adams and Toni Byrd, with an emphasis on producing African-American theatrical material which promotes awareness and deeper understanding of the black community’s contribution to the cultural experience.
