FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

SALT LAKE ACTING COMPANY PRESENTS SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2011 BY ALLEN NEVINS AND NANCY BORGENICHT, DIRECTED BY CYNTHIA FLEMING.

“They’re coming! They’re coming! The wackos are coming!” – Paul Revere in Saturday’s Voyeur 2011

Get ready, Utah. SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2011 is here! And with it, come the Founding Fathers. And they are pissed. Tired of being misrepresented, misquoted, and misunderstood, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and Patrick Henry – along with Paul Revere and Betsy Ross – show up in our Beehive State to set a few things straight.

“Those in power will always rewrite history, if they’re allowed to get away with it.” – Thomas Jefferson in Saturday’s Voyeur 2011

Playwright Nancy Borgenicht says: “It’s mainly about patriotic Founding Father outrage. Who’s the most American? Who has the stake on history, and the flag, and the Constitution?”

This year’s show takes place in the dream of a “Huntsman Republican” woman living in the Yalecrest neighborhood, coping with her neighbors’ extreme conservatism and their 5,000 square foot addition (to what used to be an eleven hundred square foot bungalow) that blocks out the sun. The Founders come to her rescue, berating the Tea Partiers for claiming their own “encyclopedic knowledge” of the U.S. Constitution, for rating Ronnie Reagan right up there with the Founding Fathers, and for wanting to gut GRAMA.

Allen Nevins says: “That’s what VOYEUR is all about. It’s the one time of year that people of a more liberal persuasion win. That’s the only reason to do it.”

Utahans of a more liberal persuasion will be happy to see the usual suspects Voyeurized. Michael “Tea Party” Lee will dance and sing, Ralph Pecker flies through the wings, Becky Blockhart does a striptease, Carl Dwimmer & Patrick Henry have a fling, and of course, our own Super Freak – Gayle Bazooka – has the boys in the house wrapped around her lovely little finger.

No one is safe and nothing is sacred.

The multitalented cast (featuring VOYEUR veterans Alexis Baigue, Steven Fehr, Kent Harrison Hayes, Kelsie Jepsen, Jacob Johnson, Shannon Musgrave, Victoria Elena Nones, and Jeanette Puhich, and newcomers Austin Archer, Randall Eames, Holly Fowers, and John Rowland) sing and dance around subjects such as the Government Records And Management Act, our new state gun, off-leash dogs in Parley’s Park, feral cats, immigration, liquor stores, a 2,600-seat Broadway-style theatre, and closed caucuses, just to name a few.

Executive Producers Keven Myhre and Cynthia Fleming said: “Producing SATURDAY’S VOYEUR is an exciting time for SLAC. It’s a celebration of the brave new work this theatre is known for. Thousands of people come to see this play, written for our community, about our community. We have the opportunity to promote our 2011/12 Season to this significant audience and to connect with future subscribers. As we laugh at SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2011, we can look forward to a remarkable year ahead with a vibrant season of plays.”

SATURDAY’S VOYEUR runs Wednesdays through Sundays June 29 to September 4, 2011 at SLAC and is recommended for mature audiences.
