The regional award winners will be honored August 7th, 11:45 a.m., at the 2013 Lieutenant Governor's Southern Region Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon.  The luncheon will be held at the Heritage Center in Cedar City.

UCSV is pleased to announce Lieutenant Governor Greg Bell as the luncheon keynote.  He will highlight the powerful impact volunteerism has on the state as well as honoring these award recipients. Chris Bray, Utah Nonprofits Association Executive Director will also speak at the luncheon.

In conjunction with the luncheon, UCSV will be hosting the Lt. Governor’s Southern Region Conference on Service on the same date and at the same location from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Conference is dedicated to improving volunteer management in Utah and attendees represent the nonprofit, government, faith-based, and corporate sectors.

Kicking off the conference will be a keynote address by Fred Adams, the founder and executive producer emeritus of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, now in its 52nd  season.  His address will be titled, "Volunteerism...priceless" and will focus on the way the Shakespeare Festival utilizes volunteers.

The general session day will be filled with nine  workshops centered on volunteer management in Utah, the #1 state in the nation for volunteer rates. Presenters were chosen from local organizations such as the Huntsman World Senior Games, Southern Utah University, Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center, and more. Registration for the conference can be completed on our website at userve.utah.gov

Members of the media are encouraged to attend any of the conference’s events.  For interview information or additional questions please contact Katie Barlow 801-715-6717.
