JOB: part-time Business Manager @ SLC Film Center

Job Description: SLC Film Center seeks a part-time Business Manager (20-30 hours per week) for immediate hire.

The SLC Film Center brings the world of film to local audiences through community screenings and discussions, outreach programs, and visiting artists and professionals. Emphasizing social content and artistic excellence, we present the best documentary, independent, and dramatic cinema year-round. We collaborate with various educational and community organizations to promote a diversity of ideas, to provide forums for underrepresented groups, and to develop new audiences for film.

Job Description:
This position will report to the Executive Director and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance activities, in additional to several human resource aspects of the organization.

Responsibilities:
* Managing the entry of day-to-day accounting activities, including A/R, A/P, G/L, project-based accounting, grant and fund accounting, purchasing, payroll, and fixed assets.
* Preparing monthly journal entries for various accounting areas, including but not limited to prepaids, accruals and fixed assets.
* Preparing weekly, monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages.
* Performing monthly forecasts encompassing income, expense and cash flow.
* Reporting on overdue receivables and payables.
* Ensuring effective internal controls and adherence to accounting policies and procedures; and ensure internal controls are properly documented.
* Insuring that all reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
* Directing timely month-end and year-end close processes.
* Identifying and driving significant improvements to daily procedures to automate and streamline them, and improvements to internal and external reporting; actively participate in efforts to improve operational systems and processes across the board.
* Preparing and reviewing support for annual financial audits.
* Managing external accounting/finance relationships (banks, audit firm, tax accountants, insurance broker).
* Coordinating tax filings.
* Playing a substantial role in the annual organization-wide budget process.
* Assisting Development Manager in preparation of grant reports (Including ZAP application and reporting)
* Following IRS Guidelines for tracking credit card expenses
* Managing PTO, benefits tracking and paperwork
* Updating and maintaining fixed asset module.
* Other duties as required


Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in related positions.
* Knowledge of non-profit and grant/fund accounting a plus.
* Strong Quickbooks and Excel skills required, Salesforce experience a plus
* Superb attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task, plan, execute and deliver on projects and tasks in a timely manner.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively with a small team in an open office environment.
* Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.

Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with skill, knowledge and experience level and the constraints of a non-profit business organization.
