Salt Lake City - Utah Chamber Artists launches its 21st concert season this September with the extremely popular Collage Concerts at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City. The eagerly anticipated concerts have been a part of Utah Chamber Artists annual season for 15 years. They will take place on Monday September 19th and Tuesday September 20th at 8:00 PM in the Cathedral. The concerts are free to the public and no tickets are required. This year’s program is entitled “Chant and Contemplation”. Various chants will thread the music selections together. A new aspect of the lighting design this year will be lighting the windows from the exterior of the cathedral so audiences can experience the stunning windows that usually remain dark during the evening hours.

The centerpiece of the concert is a world premiere of a requiem by J.A.C Redford. Utah Chamber Artists is honored to present “Rest Now, My Sister”, composed in memory of Redford’s sister-in-law, Kristine Allred Gabel, who was found murdered in Salt Lake City's Fairmont Park just before Christmas last year. Redford also wrote the sonnet to which the music is set. This is the latest of several collaborations between the composer and Utah Chamber Artists. He and his wife LeAnn Allred Redford will travel from California to attend both of the Collage Concerts. A piano quartet "The Alphabet of Revelation" also by Redford will be featured on the concert.

In addition the program features music of Bach, Mozart, Howells, Walton, Victoria, Miskinis and Gjielo.

Guest soloists:
Doulas O’Neill, Organ
John Eckstein, Cello
