The Student Chapter of the Weber State University American String Teachers Association (ASTA) presents ASTA Stringfest 2011, March 4-5, with a Honors Recital at 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 5 in the Garrison Choral Room (BC136), Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. This is a free performance and the public is invited to attend. Children 8 years and older are welcome. A guest artist recital by Kathryn Lucktenberg is also scheduled on Friday, March 4 at 12:30 pm. (see separate release for more information).
Stringfest is organized and run by WSU ASTA students. It is sponsored by the Department of Performing Arts at WSU with partial funding provided by WSU Clubs and Organizations.
The Honors Concert participants are the best students selected from entries in Stringfest adjudication. Students playing one of six stringed instruments, violin, viola, cello, string bass, guitar and harp, are judged in the following categories: Junior Elementary (up to 3rd grade), Senior Elementary (4th-6th grade), Junior (7th-9th grade), Senior (10th-12th grade), and College. Each participant receives a rating certificate. Trophies and music store gift certificates will be presented to the winners in each category.
Stringfest 2011 schedule:
March 4, 12:30 pm: Lucktenberg Violin Recital, Garrison Choral Room (BC 136)
March 4, 1:30-3:30: Lucktenberg Master class, (Room TBA)
March 5, 9 am -3 pm: Stringfest Adjudication
March 5, 7:30 pm: Honors Recital: Garrison Choral Room (BC 136)
