Weber State University Department of Performing Arts presents the Weber State Symphony Orchestra in concert with the Bonneville Youth Orchestra Sunday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Austad Auditorium of the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts.
The orchestra’s brass section will open the concert with the Fanfare from “La Peri” by Dukas. Following this the Bonneville Youth Orchestra, conducted by Carrie Maxson and Elissa Krebs, will take the stage and play music of Beethoven and Vaughan Williams. The Weber State Symphony Orchestra will continue the concert with three compositions, the Overture to “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss, the Serenade for 13 Winds, by Richard Strauss, and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite, Opus 66. The two orchestras will combine for the final number, the Overture to “La Forza del Destino” by Verdi.
Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults and $4 for students, seniors and those with military I.D. They can be purchased in advance at Dee Events Center Tickets, 1-800-WSU-TIKS. WSU students who pick up a complementary ticket from the Department of Performing Arts office, room 331 in the Browning Center, will be admitted free. Children 8 and over are welcome to attend. This concert is partially funded by student fees.
