As many of you know the store has struggled over the last few years
and
the Board was hoping that a move to Sugar House would help improve
sales. In working through the aspects of the move, we had many
conversations with the national office of Ten Thousand Villages. Given
the
financial situation of the store, the national office would not approve
our move. We have worked through the logistics of making the move on
our own as an independent store, but the board determined this was not
feasible. Unfortunately, the only
remaining option is to close the store.
Words seem inadequate to express appreciation for the many hours
volunteers have given to the store over the last twelve years and the
numerous customers who have made the store and fair trade merchandise a
part of their lives. Thank
you for your dedication to the local store, belief in the mission of
Ten Thousand Villages
and support of the artisans.
The final day the store will be open to the public is Friday, April 26. All items are discounted
and we would recommend you use any gift cards you may have. Gift cards can still be used for online purchases through
www.tenthousandvillages.com at any time.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors
Ten Thousand Villages Utah
