Weber State Univesrity Department of Performing Arts presents the WSU Symphonic Band, WSU Wind Ensemble with the WSU Concert Choir in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in the Austad Auditorium, Val A. Opening the concert will be the Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. Shannon Roberts. This ensemble will perform several traditional band works, including the Tchesnikov “Salvation is Created,” Alfred Reed’s “First Suite,” and a special arrangement written by Roberts for solo euphonium, performed by Daniel West.
The WSU Wind Ensemble will follow with the Shostakovich “Festive Overture,” portions of James Barnes’ “Second Symphony,” and a special anniversary performance of “Psalm 138” by Thomas Root for band and concert choir. The bands will conclude the concert with a joint combined performance of Karl L. King’s “The Purple Pageant.”
