CIRCUS FLAVORS INFUSE RIRIE-WOODBURY FAMILY SHOW
Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company continues its 50th Anniversary Season with Flabbergast, a show for all ages at the newly-remodeled Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre. Featuring works by choreographer and circus maestro, Tandy Beal. Flabbergast is a magical and mystery-filled tour through time and space. The Show runs January 31 and February 1 at 7pm and February 1 at 2pm. Tickets for a Family of 5 are just $45.
This brand new production immerses the audience in a journey of wonder as the acrobatic physicality of the dancers defies expectation. Breathtaking stunts, vibrant costumes, and a compelling score by longtime Ririe-Woodbury collaborator, Jon Scoville, accompany Tandy’s brilliant choreography. The Company is also joined by an array of guest performers that span a multitude of generations. This variety of tantalizing facets create something inspirational for everyone to enjoy.
Tandy Beal's whimsical dance composition and storyline draws from her work internationally as a circus director and choreographer. The New York Times has called Tandy, "A choreographer of taste and intelligence - a sure sense of theatre."
In conjunction with the public performances, Ririe-Woodbury presents five student matinees which are open and free to students at all Utah Schools. More than 6,000 students and teachers will see this performance at no charge thanks to funding from the Utah State Office of Education POPS Program, Utah Arts Council, Salt Lake Arts Council, and our Corporate, Foundation, and individual donors who also play a large role in allowing the continuation of these matinees.
