Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: Showcasing works for clarinet to guitar, the SUU Chamber Ensemble Concert series has something for everyone. The SUU Department of Music will present a series of performances from the Woodwind, Brass, String, Piano, Guitar and Percussion Ensembles, November 15, 16, 19 and 22, at 7:30 pm in SUU’s Thorley Recital Hall. Admission is free and the general public is invited to attend.

The Woodwind and Brass Ensembles will present an evening of classics on November 15, featuring works from Bach, Schumann, Beethoven, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The String and Piano Ensembles Concert will perform a joint program on November 16, which will include piano works from Beethoven to Shostakovich, and a special arrangement of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. The ever popular Guitar recital on November 19 will feature guitar students from the Department of Music. The Percussion Ensemble Concert will finish up the series on November 22, featuring performances using common orchestral instruments, to the unusual, including ladders, Peruvian box drums and newspapers.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year.
