Bountiful/Davis Art Center Annual Davis School District High School, Jr. High
and Art Educator Exhibit - April 13, May 6, 2011
BOUNTIFUL, Utah, March 31,2011 - Bountiful/Davis Art Center will host its annual Davis School District High School Exhibition April 13 – May 6. The opening reception will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Awards will be given in Study and Original work, 3-Dimensional work, Illustration and Photography. Awards will be presented at 8:00pm. Melanie Swann, art educator at Woods Cross High School is coordinating the exhibit with help from teachers and administrators of Davis School District.
The Jr. High School Exhibit will feature works of art from Davis County Jr. High Schools. Jay Nolan, Art Educator, Fairfield Jr. High is coordinating this exhibit. This is the 3rd year the Jr. High School students have been involved in the exhibit.
“We are excited that Davis School District Jr. High school art students are able to exhibit in a district-wide show along side their High School peers. It not only provides the community the opportunity to see the strength of the work done by Jr. High students, but also gives these students a wonderful venue in which their work can be shown. Visitors will be impressed by the quality and creativity of the work of these students. This is an important chance for these students to excel and shine and for the communities in Davis County to be proud”, says Nolan.
The Art Educators exhibit will be located in the North Gallery and features teachers from Bountiful, Woods Cross, Viewmont, Davis, Northridge, Layton and Clearfield high schools as well as teachers from the Jr. High schools in Davis County.
Emma J. Dugal, Executive Director at BDAC says,”the student work is always innovative and creative. We are amazed at the high caliber of art created by the students and their willingness to take risks. This is largely due to the art educators in Davis School District where there is a strong tradition of excellence.”
This year in conjunction with the BDAC show, Bountiful High School’s International Baccalaureate Student Art Show will be held at Lamplight Art Gallery April 13 – May 6, 2011. Students Casey Bingham, Morgan Bronson, Sophronia Pututua, and Cynthia Sharma, will be exhibiting a themed body of artwork developed over two years of academic study in the IB Visual Arts Program. An opening reception will be held on April 13 from 5:00 – 7:00pm. at Lamplight Art Gallery, 170 South Main, Bountiful, after which students will join the Davis School District exhibit and opening at Bountiful/Davis Art Center from 7:00 – 9:00pm.
