The Salt Lake Choral Artists, under the direction of Dr. Brady Allred, invite you to the final concert of their 2010-2011 season: a performance of J.S. Bach’s magnificent “Mass in B Minor.” The Mass was most likely never performed in its entirety during Bach’s lifetime and largely disappeared in the 18th century. However, performances of the piece in the 19th century sparked a revival of both the piece and Bach’s music. Today, the B Minor Mass is considered a supreme masterpiece of Western music and widely hailed as a monumental work of the late Baroque period.
SLCA’s performance will feature a professional chamber orchestra, well-known soloists, and a simultaneous screening of Bastian Clevé’s silent film “The Sound of Eternity,” which corresponds to the musical structure of the Mass.
The performance will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 PM in Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the University of Utah campus. For tickets and more information, visit www.saltlakechoralartists.org
