“SING YE PRAISE”
A SPRING CHORAL CONCERT

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: It promises a lively and joyous evening of song, when Southern Utah University’s Department of Music presents Sing Ye Praise, a Spring Choral Concert featuring SUU’s three choral ensembles: OPUS, Les Chansons and Concert Choir. The concert will be Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City. The performance begins at 7:30pm. All tickets are general admission and tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for SUU Faculty and Staff, and $3 for students and children. SUU students attend free with a valid student ID.
For the evening’s program, OPUS will perform “Even When God Is Silent” and “Pourings” both composed by the ensemble’s music director, Dr. Keith Bradshaw, Department of Music chair. Additional works include “Wade in de Water” by Alan Koepke, “Little Lamb” by Blake Henson and “The Word was God” by Rosephanye Powell. The Concert Choir’s program, also directed by Dr. Bradshaw, features his “Sing Ye Praise,” “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copeland, “Bring Us, Oh Lord God” by William Harris, “Psalm of Consolation” by Merrill Bradshaw (Dr. Bradshaw’s father), “Ride the Chariot” and “Domine, ad adjuvandum me festina,” both of which will feature accompaniment by SUU’s String Ensemble. Under the direction of Jackie Jackson, Les Chansons will also perform inspirational selections.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, Theatre Arts and Dance, as well as a graduate program in Arts Administration. The College offers 16 different degree areas, including liberal arts Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees; professional Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art and theatre degrees; and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration degree. More than 60 full- and part-time faculty and staff are engaged in teaching and mentoring over 550 majors in the College. Over 1100 students enroll each year in over 195 arts classes on the SUU campus. The College presents 100 performances, lectures, presentations, and exhibitions each year. The College’s affiliate organizations include the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, American Folk Ballet, Utah Shakespeare Festival, the performance group Acclamation, and the SUU Ballroom Dance Company.
