PUBLIC ART OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCED for UTAH ARTISTS
SALT LAKE CITY – Marmalade Branch Library
The Salt Lake Art Design Board announces a call for Utah artists who are interested in submitting proposals for a public art commission at the new Marmalade Branch Library located at 500 North 300 West in Salt Lake City. The Library will be complete in December 2014.
Located in an urban redevelopment area, the new 20,000 square foot, two-story building will seek to transform and activate the currently vacant 4-acre property. The Library will serve as the anchor for future development including town homes and mixed use - retail & commercial - spaces.
The Salt Lake Art Design Board seeks an aesthetically pleasing, imaginative, site-specific artwork that will have a positive impact on the location. The winning proposal must make a strong visual statement and must be inviting and thought-provoking without being imposing. The sculpture, ideally located near the Library’s main entrance or café entrance on the plaza, will be a focal point not only for the Library but also for the development that surrounds the Library.
The artist’s budget for this commission is $90,000. Proposal materials are now being accepted through
5:00 p.m. , Monday, December 2, 2013. For the full Request for Proposals click www.slcdocs.com/arts/RFPMarmalade.pdf
