Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: Due to the overwhelming support
received for 2012´s inaugural Piano Monster
Concert, SUU's Department of Music continues the tradition with the Piano Monster Concert Goes Christmas. This
piano-packed evening features such as duets and ensembles that utilize multiple
pianos, including several grand pianos. "Monster Concert Goes Christmas" also
features SUU´s new Piano Ensemble,
which will perform works of greater difficulty. Pianists of all ages and abilities, and their teachers, are invited to
participate. It will be held at 7pm
on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Cedar
City Heritage Center Theater.
This year´s holiday-themed
concert program includes such Christmas favorites as Robert Vandall´s Duet Fantasy on Joy to the World and
Beatrice Miller´s arrangement of the Overture
to the Nutcracker Suite, all performed on several grand pianos at
once.

Late registrations may be accepted if space is available. A registration fee of
$5 per participant will apply. Participants should also plan on spending between
$5-$15 to purchase sheet music (available through Cedar City Music, The Music
Store in St. George, or online). A list of the music that will be performed is

A mandatory dress rehearsal
will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, and additional rehearsals may be
held in November. Upon receiving your registration materials and fee, SUU
professor of music Christian Bohnenstengel will contact you to arrange
rehearsal and performance groupings. You can contact Professor Bohnenstengel

Participants must wear
Sunday dress to the performance and sign in at the Heritage Center lobby
welcome desk at least fifteen minutes prior to their scheduled rehearsal time
and twenty minutes prior to the concert. Each participant will receive two
complimentary tickets, and additional tickets will be available the evening of
the performance. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for SUU faculty and staff, and
$3 for youth. Admission is free for SUU students with a current ID.
