The Ogden Concert Band will perform their spring concert Wednesday, March 20, 7:30 pm, at Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd in Ogden. The band is comprised of talented and dedicated community musicians under the direction of Dr. Thomas Root. This is a free concert and open to the public.
The band will be introducing a new associate conductor, Dr. Shannon Roberts. Roberts also directs the WSU Jazz Ensemble at Weber State University.
The band will play a composition by Dr. Root titled “Butterfly Dances.” Paul Hathcock will conduct concert band favorite, “First Suite in E flat for Military Band,” by Gustav Holst.
The Ogden Concert Band has been together since 1993, when it was reinstated from an earlier incarnation The William Pitt Concert Band, also directed by Root. Dr. Root is also the director of the band program at WSU.
