UCA Notes: Legislative Executive Appropriations 3.8.13

The following approved appropriations are UCA members:
  1. Commission on Volunteers Administration Matching Funds: $45,700 (ongoing), line #4 under Business, Economic Development, and Labor Appropriations Sub-committee (BEDL)
  2. Utah Humanities Council: $15,000 (ongoing, ask was $17,100), $20,000 (1x, request was $25,000), line #4 for BEDL
  3. NHMU: $300,000 (1x through Higher Education Appropriations)
  4. Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program: $4,000,000(2x) line #95 under Public Ed
  5. iSEE ‐ ScienceOutreach Programs: $250,000 (ongoing) through Public Ed, line #107
  6. POPS FineArtsOutreach: $250,000 (going) through Public Ed #108
  7. iSEE ScienceOutreach Provider Expansion ‐  RFP $225,000 through Public Ed, line 112


Other items of interest to cultural community:
  1. 9-11 memorial (1x funding): $150,000, line #3 for BEDL
  2. Pioneer Museum: $100,000 (1x), line #7 for BEDL
  3. Topaz Museum $100,000, line #8 for BEDL
  4. Utah Shakespeare Festival, $2,000,000 (1x), line #9 for BEDL
  5. Moab Music Festival, $25,000 (1x) line #10 for BEDL
  6. The Leonardo $350,000 (1x) line #11 for BEDL
The motions listed on the yellow sheet (link above) were made and passed unanimously. The appropriations listed on the blue sheet (link above) passed unanimously.

Several Democrats included Senator Davis, Representative Briscoe, Senator Jones, Representative Cosgrove, Senator Mayne, and Representative Seelig made a number of motions that failed 12-8 along party lines. Most of the motions were made too fast, but you can read them in the official minutes.
